Biography

Dr Nell Bennett is a researcher who specialises in maritime and naval affairs, law and international security. She has a Master of Research and a Doctor of Philosophy from Macquarie University and is a barrister with experience in criminal and appellate law. Dr Bennett is the Editor for the Sea Power Center – Australia, Editor of the Journal of Policing, Intelligence and Counterterrorism and a member of the Institute of Professional Editors. She is also a 2024 Blue Security Fellow with the Blue Security Consortium and La Trobe Asia. Dr Bennett has edited two multi-contributor volumes, Strategic Minds: The role of intelligence education in advancing national security analysis, and Terrorist Challenges in the Indo-Pacific (Routledge, 2025). Her latest book, Euskadi ta Askatasuna: Terrorist dynamics and the fight to survive, is forthcoming from Oxford University Press.
